If you are in crisis, this page is not the right place
This website cannot help you in an emergency. It is not monitored, and nothing here reaches a person in real time.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are struggling and need someone now, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) — free, confidential, 24 hours a day. More options are listed on every page of this site under Crisis Support.
What this site is
This is the informational website of Ethos & Auryn Therapy, the telehealth practice of Shannon Ellis, LCSW, CCTP. It exists to describe the practice, its approach, and how to make contact.
By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please don’t use the site — that’s a genuine option and it costs you nothing.
Using this site does not make you a client
Reading these pages, following a link, or sending an email does not create a therapist–client relationship. That relationship begins only when Shannon has accepted you as a client, you have completed intake, and you have signed her informed-consent paperwork inside the secure client portal.
Until that happens, nothing you send should be treated as confidential clinical communication.
Nothing here is clinical advice
The writing on this site — including the specialty pages, the FAQ, and Shannon’s own descriptions of her approach — is general information about how she practices. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for care from a qualified professional who knows your situation.
Do not delay seeking care, or disregard advice you have already received, because of something you read here.
Where the practice can work with you
Shannon is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan, and the practice operates entirely by telehealth. She can only provide therapy to clients physically located in a state where she is licensed at the time of the session.
If you are outside those three states, she cannot be your therapist, however good a fit the practice might otherwise be.
Booking, scheduling, and the client portal
Scheduling, intake paperwork, session notes, and secure messaging all happen inside SimplePractice, a separate service with its own terms and privacy policy. Links on this site that say “Book” or “Client Portal” hand you off to SimplePractice.
This website never collects health information. It has no forms and no login.
Fees
Session rates, the sliding-scale statement, and the cancellation policy are published on the fees page and in the FAQ, and are accurate as of the date at the bottom of this page. They can change. The fees that govern your care are the ones in the agreement you sign at intake, not the ones on a web page.
Links to other sites
This site links out to SimplePractice, to professional directories, and to crisis resources. Those organizations are independent. Their content and their handling of your information are theirs, not the practice’s, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the far side of it.
The writing on this site belongs to the practice
The text, design, and photographs here are the property of the practice and its founder. Please don’t republish them as your own. Quoting a passage with attribution and a link back is welcome.
Limits
This site is provided as it is. The practice works to keep it accurate and available but doesn’t guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted, and isn’t liable for losses arising from your use of it.
Nothing in this section limits liability for Shannon’s professional conduct as a licensed clinician. That is governed by her license, the ethical standards of her profession, and the laws of the states she is licensed in — not by a website disclaimer, and it is not something these terms could waive even if they tried to.
Changes
These terms may be updated. The date below reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana.
